Welcome to the online home of Urban Style Fashion & Living Boutique, Sumner, Christchurch. If you are not already familiar with our fabulous seaside fashion boutique – here’s a wee bit about us!

Urban Surf was opened in December 2002 by two friends, Jo and Gerry.

The store has had many makeovers since its initial beach/bach themed style, ensuring things have kept fresh and relevant. Our latest evolution was August 2019, and this has seen the introduction of Urban Surf becoming Urban Style to help better reflect the more fashion focused direction our customers have helped steer us in. Still the same business with our awesome team, just with a slightly different name and still offering the beautiful ‘tropical island luxe’ themed product range that our customers have become accustomed to.

Our beautiful tropical island luxe themed store along with the introduction of hand selected home decor accents & luxury treats has been hugely successful and customers are loving the new look and expanded product offering. We are constantly receiving comments from our customers about how beautiful our store looks and that we have the best selection of mens and women’s fashion in Christchurch.  We are pretty happy with that!

We have customers coming from far and wide to shop with us as our selection is totally unique to our store and many now make the journey to Sumner on an increasingly regular basis.

Urban Style has amazing support from the local community and this many years on, the store has become a mainstay in the Sumner Village Community.  This in turn, means that Urban is a big supporter of the local community. We are regularly involved in local fundraisers, our annual fashion shows are run to specifically raise money for our community groups, schools, kindy, Volunteer Fire, Coastal Pathway, and we donate or sponsor many of the local school and sporting fundraisers. We are also an acknowledged contributor to Starship Childrens Hospital.

Urban has an amazing team of ‘girls’ that work in the store and all have their own style and own personalities and all have established a loyal customer base that trust their styling advice and will come from all over town to shop exclusively with them. Our store is relaxed and all shapes and sizes, ages and stages are made to feel welcome. Another great way to meet and have a fun and informal night, is to come along to one of our ‘Relax, Shop, UnWined’ nights, where we have a wine or two, and help you create a new look, try some styles you would never think of, or simply enhance and update your current wardrobe.
